My cameras and I have been some places
But photography isn't really about me, it's about you.
Hey friends, I’m Jenn!—the photographer and storyteller behind SoJourney Photography. I’m based near Aspen in the stunning Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado, and specialize in elopement adventure photography primarily in Colorado and Utah. I started out my journey here scaling mountains, snowboarding, and even rafting with camera in hand, because the landscapes were just too epic. But after some time I realized there was something missing, and that something was YOU. A snow-capped mountain at sunrise is stunning, but that same scene with a bride’s dress billowing in the wind, and a first kiss against an explosive sky?—let’s go.
The heart behind my work is simple: your moments matter. I believe photography is about more than just beautiful images—it’s about preserving the emotion, connection, and presence of a moment. Every couple I work with has their own rhythm, journey, and spark, and I feel deeply honored to document even a small part of it.
The word SoJourney is inspired by the Biblical word sojourn — a temporary stay, a journey with meaning. In our daily lives, this can be applied to our wanderings, trials, and triumphs. This is also applied to our time on earth as we seek and prepare for the next one (Hebrews 11:13-16). Small- or large-scaled, ultimately our moments are numbered, and what we do matters. Our journeys matter! It’s this truth that drives me to document the moments that are real and fleeting.
So it’s my ultimate goal to create images that you experience, feel, and remember throughout your life and for the lives you pass these down to. It’s also why I keep my editing true-to-color, highlighting the vivid colors and bold elements that you remember. I’ve got your back in this whole experience, and can’t wait to create a wedding day that aligns with you.
Why adventure with
SoJourney Photography?
-
Please tell me you want to burst out the Hercules song now! As someone who has summited many of Colorado’s 14,000-foot mountains, hiked miles in deserts, jungles, and snowy terrain with a heavy pack, and climbed in and out of canyons for the shot: neither height, nor depth, nor distance will deter me from getting the wild, epic photos you’ve been dreaming of! I have a deep understanding of different destinations during different times of the year, and love seeking out the more hidden, extraordinary spots—away from crowds and cliches.
-
Let’s be honest, weather (esp. in Colorado!) can be as unpredictable as your mother-in-law (don’t worry—we can keep that between us!). I’m thinking of every aspect of your experience and absolutely everything that could sidestep what we’ve planned. From detailed itineraries, packing tips, and travel guidance, to extra snacks and rain coats, I’m your Mary Poppins for the unexpected. But here’s another honest truth: the BEST photos often come from the unexpected!

Man I’m on a Disney roll!
Feeling overwhelmed? I’ve got you. Next to getting the best photos possible for you is my desire to create an experience where you feel comfortable, supported, prepared, and confident. I’m here for you for any questions, concerns, or ideas throughout the process—like the best friend you didn’t know you needed! I’m also working behind the scenes to make sure all the details are hashed out, and finding little ways to personalize your experience. Additionally, I provide assistance in planning, permits, and connections to vendors.

From deserts to tundras to mountains to oceans—how amazing is it that we can all enjoy these stunning landscapes! When you book with me, you’re booking with someone who knows what to look out for in local terrain—things like trail restoration, cryptobiotic soil, sand dunes, land permits, and rock scree. I aim to get us to those less-traveled places while respecting the environment and honoring the leave-no-trace principle for minimizing human impact in the outdoors.
-
Sure, the location, activities, and atmosphere will be incredible! But the most important thing I aim to document is your story together. I don’t want you to just see these photographs years later; I want you to feel them. So before we even begin our journey, I’ll get to know more about you two and your vision together. I’ll ask questions and go over ideas, but most importantly, I’ll listen. I want this journey to be a positive and memorable effect long after the day ends.
Things I value:
-
Sometimes simple is better and opens us up to experiencing more! Space and downtime is also essential for processing these special moments. I intentionally build your elopement day with this in mind, so you don’t end the day overwhelmed and exhausted.
-
There’s a combo you don’t see too often, but one I think is important in both planning life and your photography adventure. I believe a healthy mix of preparation and going-with-the-flow creates a timeline of both priorities and unexpected adventure!
-
Shallow conversations and small talk can be inauthentic and exhausting. I want you to feel totally connected to your photographer so you can be your true selves, without expectations or veils (no pun intended).
-
I believe that if we aren’t serving others, we’ve lost a huge part of the importance of life. Both in and outside of my photography, I aim to give back in time, energy, and monetary value.
-
As someone who loves and appreciates nature, it’s important to respect it too, and do our part to add to its value, not take away. Wherever we go for your elopement, we'll be sure to leave the land just as we first encountered it (or leave it better).
Fun Facts about
your Photographer
Though I wanted to go to college for photography, circumstances turned me to a writing degree, which unlocked another passion and dream: becoming a novelist.
I also went to college for cross-country and track, and still avidly run today (mostly on trails).
I’ve won my town’s pie-eating competition for 4 years in a row (yeah I like pie).
I have two adorable cats who are both harnessed-trained and love mini hikes on trails. One has even braved paddleboarding with me!
Before switching to elopement photography, for seven years I designed and showcased my landscape photos on merchandise for festivals (hats, hoodies, etc.).
I’ve worked as a flight attendant, raft guide and manager, heli-ski manager, and most recently in admin at the Aspen airport
Other things
that bring me joy!
Quiet mornings of journaling and reflection (just add a cup of coffee with whipped cream, a candle, and cuddly cats)
Reading fiction/fantasy books and fantasizing about writing my own (to be continued!)
Driving through summer wind in my ’97 Wrangler
Being a goober and making weird faces
Popcorn (like every day) and any tropical drink with coconut (NOT every day)
Doing all of the outdoor activities possible out here with my amazing boyfriend! (Ice climbing, rafting, skiing, backpacking)
Watching thunderstorms and action movies
Hiking Colorado’s 14,000 ft. peaks (14 down, 44 to go!)
Deep conversations that fuel a spirit and leave a lasting connection
Love letters from eloping couples
